NetFlow Tracker is an extremely powerful management tool from Crannog that provides a level of detail previously unavailable in any application of its type. Using Cisco's NetFlow technology (which is embedded in IOS in almost all routers and chassis based switches), Tracker can instantly profile all traffic going through the network and present a detailed graphical view in increments as small as 1 minute.

Version 2 of NetFlow Tracker, launched on August 8 2005, offers users the optional Advanced Services Module, created in response to demands for much longer data storage times for Tracker.

Note to users of Tracker V1.x - If you download the new version and install it over your existing version, you will need to obtain a new licence key immediately, as the new version will only work in evaluation mode for 24 hours without it. It is therefore recommended that you do not install Tracker V2 over your existing installation outside working hours GMT+1/BST/UTC+1.

There are 6 different storage options available in NetFlow Tracker V2 with ASM, so customers can choose the level of detail that suits their storage needs and resources best:

NetFlow Tracker Version 2 also provides several useful new features:

• Printable and saveable reports
  Reports can now be exported in CSV format and also displayed in a printable format.
• Recognised application report and filter
  Reports can now be made based on the names of applications generating cross-network traffic.
• Single browser navigation
  Instead of popping up in new windows, traffic charts are now shown in the existing browser window. Charts can be detached to a new window if required.
• Status bars on the devices page
  The Devices page now shows horizontal status bars to indicate the current traffic level. This has previously been available only on the interface pages.

NetFlow Tracker is also available stand-alone if the extra reporting capability of ASM is not required.

It should be noted that Cisco Netflow data generation must be specifically enabled on each nominated Cisco router or switch. Netflow data generation requires specific Cisco IOS versions and configurations on the device in question. Depending on equipment specification additional memory may also be required for each device.
